HIGH ARE THE HUMBLE

“When someone invites you to dinner, don’t take the place of honor.
Somebody more important than you might have been invited by the host.
Then he’ll come and call out in front of everybody,
‘You’re in the wrong place. The place of honor belongs to this man.’
Red-faced, you’ll have to make your way to
the very last table, the only place left.
Luke 14:8-9 (Holy Bible; The Message)

We love to be recognized and being respected to take the frontline
in the feasts, festivals or functions that we we have been invited.
It's unhealthy and unpleasant.
If someone more honourable than us might have been invited,
then we will be disgraced and dishonoured.

We are expecting to enjoy this privilege of being esteemed
even in celebrations, camaraderies (fellowship gatherings)
congregations (church gatherings) and communions (bread breaking services).
The very thought "to be honored" becomes a barrier for our life and base for
all the confusions (hubbubs) and commotions (hullabaloos) in our life.
Let us learn to be humble. Let us earn the honour from our God.
